Helix is one of the first bed-in-a-box companies. Their rise to prominence is directly related to their wide range of mattress options. Helix offers 13 different sleep options, six of which are luxe options for people looking for a more luxurious experience. Their mattresses range in firmness and styles.
Helix first offered a plus-sized and big and tall mattress bed-in-a-box option in 2018. As their company seeks to cater to all styles of sleepers, theyve taken customer preferences into account to ensure that big and tall sleepers have a quality mattress that meets and exceeds all their needs.
For sleepers that are unsure if the Helix Plus is the mattress they need, Helix offers a 100-night sleep trial. They also offer a 15-year warranty for the Helix Plus. Other Helix offerings only come with a 10-year warranty.
The Helix Plus 15 year warranty, while limited, provides excellent protection for customers against deterioration and manufacturing defects for the first 15 years of ownership. The warranty is limited but will protect against all splits, cracks, and any visual indentation deeper than one-inch.
To truly understand the benefits of owning a Helix Plus mattress, it is important to understand the benefits associated with the mattress.
The Helix Plus is a medium-firm mattress, landing closer to the firmer side of the spectrum. The mattress is firmer than average, which makes it a great buy for sleepers of larger stature. Depending on your sleeping position this level of firmness works in different ways.
Side sleepers will notice that they will feel some initial pressure on their shoulders and hips, this comes from the support layers. Stomach sleepers will find that the support layers allow them to sleep soundly without any hip sinkage that can lead to back problems. For back sleepers, they will feel comfortable and supported by the comfort and support layers.
The new Helix Plus mattress has undergone some redesigns to give it a better ability to provide a cooling sleep. The use of gel memory foam and pocketed springs allow for a breathable and airy sleep that moves heat away from the body. However, as cooling is not its main focus this mattress may cause some heat retention in warmer weather.
The Helix Plus is a hybrid bed-in-a-box and provides adequate motion isolation. All-foam mattresses tend to offer better motion transfer isolation.
Although the Helix Plus does an excellent job on motion transfer for a hybrid mattress, it will not offer the same level of motion isolation that you expect from an all-foam mattress. If your sleeping partner tosses and turns a lot it may not be the best mattress for you.
The Helix Plus was made for comfort. The five-layer construction is made to provide comfort and support to the larger framed person body. The mattresses wrapped coils give in just the right places and the foams properly contour the body to give you a restful sleep. You will find that the firm memory foam layer helps to give exactly the support you need.
When you buy a mattress, you want to know that it will properly suit your needs. The best way to ensure that is to truly understand the technology that has been put into your Helix Plus mattress.
The Helix Plus mattress is a five-layer mattress. It starts off with a 1.5 inch Helix Dynamic Foam. The uppermost layer is made of a latex-foam hybrid which works to provide quick response pressure relief and is also great a dispersing body heat. This layer will allow you to regulate your body temperature as you sleep.
Underneath the Helix Dynamic Foam is a layer of gel memory foam that is one-inch thick. This gel memory foam is called Gel Memory Foam Plus and has a four-pound density. This layer allows for a comfortable sinkage but its placement below the latex-foam hybrid keeps you from feeling stuck. This layer also adds to the body contouring and pressure relief of the mattress.
Following this is 1.5-inches of what Helix calls Memory Foam Plus. This firm memory foam has a higher level of indentation force retention which works to help improve the firm feel of the mattress. This polyfoam layer gives the mattress the extra support that plus-sized and big and tall sleepers need.
Beneath this is eight-inches of Body Shaped Innersprings, which are wrapped coils with a reinforced perimeter for superior edge support. These coils not only add to the bounce of the bed but also work to promote motion isolation of the mattress.
At the base of the bed is one-inch of DuraDense Base Foam. This base of foam gives the coil something to rest upon. It is a high-density polyfoam that gives the bed extra durability.
